How to Choose Banner Titles, Themes and Designs

Some churches prefer that their banners have themes, such as seasonal concepts or names of God and Jesus. Many are partial to illustrating Bible verses or popular Christian symbols. Others favor expressing upcoming sermon or mission themes. Whatever your choice, we strongly recommend that you study the Bible for your inspiration

We have compiled an extensive list of suggestions for titles and themes, just follow the links below:

Designing your Banner

If your particular gift or talent is in graphic design or visual art, the most gratifying work to you will be designing the banner. It is critical always to begin the creative process with prayer as well as counsel from the church leadership. As God reveals Himself to you, your banners become an acknowledgement of the hidden treasures He is giving you. Ask God to clarify and enhance your strong points and seek counsel for your weak points.
Then throw yourself into the banner designing! God has not given you a spirit of timidity (2 Timothy 1:7), so be dramatic and bold in your work. God will bless you as you step out in faith and use the gifts He has given you.
Where will you get ideas for banners? Look around you -- they're everywhere! For beginners or those who are short on time, a great source is PraiseBanners® patterns. While all PraiseBanners® designs are copyrighted, patterns are a great source of ideas, and may be used to make drastic changes to the banner's original design.
Another good way to begin is by studying the theme that you have chosen in the Bible. Then go to your local library or get on the Internet and research lettering, Hebrew culture, Christian symbols, royalty, art, history, flowers, etc.
Begin saving magazine ads that capture your eye, even if you are not really sure what it is about them that you like. When you look at them later, patterns will begin to emerge. The ads will have similar color schemes or type fonts, perhaps. Some of what you see will be applicable to your banners.
Go to art stores or Christian bookstores and look at clip art books and lettering catalogs. What catches your eye? Those also may be used for future banner designs. Once again, you are only limited by your own imagination. Be creative. Have fun!
