Note from Editor:
"Is it too late to start a banner for Christmas?" I have been asked this a lot lately. My answer is no, it is not too late but it soon will be.
Every year I am saddened to receive distress calls from banner makers who have waited too long and are really in a pinch. If you are putting your Christmas banner off, please get busy soon. Give yourself the gift of peace of mind by leaving yourself plenty of time for this important project.

Miter, Miter, Everywhere!
Bottom corners of unlined banners cause major headaches for stitchers. The following instructions will help speed the process and create sharp edges.
- Press side and bottom hems of banners to wrong side of fabric. It helps if side and bottom hems are the same width.
- Unfold hems
- Fold fabric, right sides together, diagonally so that bottom and side edges are together.
- Draw a chalk line perpendicular to the fold, ending where the seam allowances cross
- Stitch along this line.
- Trim corner off
- Turn raw edge to the inside
- Press completed mitered corner
- Now stitch side and bottom seams
Happy Stitching
Love, Marguerite

Look at our On-line Community page for a new project by Sheron Mitchell called "Children's Banner Project". This is just precious. What a wonderful way to teach children about using banners in worship. Thank you Sheron for sharing with us.
Marguerite's students of Marguerite's Sewing School had a great showing at our State Fair last month. They took home a number of ribbons. The entries included suits, dresses, doll clothes and a quilt. You can see a picture of Marguerite and some of the winning entries at our Online Community page.
