Sewing with Marguerite

Marguerite LeBlanc, proprietor of Marguerite's Sewing School, has been gracious enough to help with sewing questions. She has taught sewing for ten years at Watkins Institute in Nashville, Tennessee. She has recently made a television appearance on "Talk of the Town" (a local program). If you need to take a sewing class, I hope with you will call Marguerite. Here are some of her recommendations to keep your sewing machine in good working order:

1. Professional cleaning once a year is recommended for machines that get heavy use. This process usually includes checking the time of the machine. This is important for a pretty stitch.
2. Change your sewing machines needle between garments. Be sure to use the right size needle for your project and the right brand of needle for your machine. The owner's manual will tell you which needle to purchase. Generally Schmetz needles are the best on the market and fit most machines.
